As a tiny country, people can travel from the caribbean to the pacific and visit beaches and mountains in few hours. This country has many active volcanoes like Poas, Irazu, and Arenal. Costa Rica where the army was abolished in 1948 has been an active peace agent with toursm as an economic key factor that contributes with 7,9 percent of PIB.

The campaigns that promote worldwide the land of the "ticos" attracted almost 2 millions of tourists in 2007. This also consolidated an industry.
